ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN SUPPORT FOR BIOLOGICAL MONITORING

Job Description

Environmental Quality, Inc. is looking to fill a position for professional support service to identify, collect and process biological samples (fauna and plant biomass); to conduct monitoring of associated biogeochemical and physical conditions; and perform associated lab and data management tasks.

Activities performed shall include approximately 70% field and 30% laboratory or data management tasks.

Training will be provided for all lab, field and data management activities.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Must be capable of carrying heavy equipment (40 pounds) and working in hot, humid conditions with biting insects and exposure to wildlife.

Must have at least 4 years of field work experience in ecological sampling or related field. Experience must include at least three of the following areas:

Deploying and downloading electronic equipment used for continuous monitoring/datalogging of environmental data,

Identifying, surveying or collecting plant biomass samples in SE Florida, preferably Everglades habitats,

Identifying, surveying or collecting fauna samples in SE Florida, preferably Everglades habitats,

Collection of water samples and benthic sediment samples in SE Florida, preferably Everglades habitats, and

QA/QC of environmental data.

This position requires flexibility in scheduling with an average of 35 hours of work biweekly.
